We purchase original fine art created by nationally recognized artists.
In most cases, we do not purchase prints, reproductions, or replicas, but determining what you have is often easier than it sounds.
One helpful indicator is numbering. If you see a fraction such as “12/250,” it typically means the piece is part of a limited print run rather than a one of a kind original.
Another simple method is to examine the artwork up close. Original pieces usually show visible brushstrokes or texture, while prints tend to display uniform dot patterns when viewed under magnification.
You can also tell if an art piece is a print based off the canvas edges. If there are crisp clean lines on all four sides, it is likely a print, whereas an original will not have crisp straight lines on the canvas edge.
If you’re unsure, our specialists are happy to take a closer look. We’ll walk you through what we see, explain the details, and provide an honest evaluation based on the piece itself.
